JOSEPH M. TITLEBAUM

Founder, Black Lab Venture Studio

Joseph Titlebaum is an entrepreneur, attorney and digital media/tech executive.  He is the
founder of Black Lab Venture Studio, which funds and nurtures start-up entrepreneurs at the
intersection of tech and regulation. Joe advises and invests in various tech start-ups and is an
LP and mentor in ERA, the leading NY accelerator program, and an LP in a bi-coastal seed
stage VC fund.  Joe also serves as the General Counsel of Rivada Networks, a development
stage 5G networking company.


Joe was a co-founder of a NY silicon alley privacy-focused big data start-up that was sold to
OpenX Technologies, a leading advertising technology company, in a deal announced in late
2017.  Previously, Joe served as the General Counsel of a national broadcast/cable television
network, and was the longtime General Counsel of XM Satellite Radio, where he founded the
company while in private practice in New York, and was responsible for the company’s legal
matters throughout the corporate lifecycle: from venture funding, through IPO, and finally the
high-profile merger with Sirius Satellite Radio.


Joe serves on the Board of Directors Project N95, which is focused on making personal
protective equipment (PPE) available to front line health care workers. Joe is also on the Board of the National Pancreas Foundation, having served as Chair from 2009-2019. The NPF
supports scientific research, patients, caregivers and education relating to diseases of the
pancreas.   


Joe is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School and resides in Bethesda,
Maryland with his wife and children.  An avid rower and triathlete, Joe has finished the NY
Triathlon 12 times.
