Mark Stodder

I’m a builder of specialized information businesses, leader of govtech startups, and former news media executive who cares deeply about transparency in government, civic engagement, and preserving and reinventing local news platforms. Most recently I served as president of Xcential Legislative Technologies, provider of a software platform to drive modernization of core systems in legislatures and other lawmaking bodies across the U.S. In that role, I worked closely with partner companies and associations working to transform law- and rule-making processes and legacy technologies in local, state, and federal governments and agencies. I currently advise two companies in the government technology space – one which provides technology and services to local governments to improve the public notice process, and another which provides tracking and deep reporting on state legislative activity. I’m also chairing the statewide advisory board for the Maine Trust for Local News, the nonprofit publisher of daily and weekly newspapers and digital news products in communities across Maine. I live near Portland, Maine.
