Connect, Elevate, and Spark Innovation

Day 1 of State of GovTech 2025 kicked off with insightful sessions exploring the future of technology in local government. John Matelski of the Center for Digital Government provided a comprehensive GovTech Market Overview, setting the stage for the discussions to come. Highlights included the keynote panel "AI, Accountability, and Adaptation", where experts like Rita Reynolds and Mike Horton examined how AI can help governments deliver more efficient, transparent services amidst economic contraction. The "Back to Basics: Technology to Do More with Less" session, featuring leaders from Arlington, VA, and the Metro Police Department, focused on leveraging existing technologies to optimize operations while maintaining public services. The day wrapped up with a variety of lightning talks, including "Drone as First Responder", which demonstrated the innovative use of drones in enhancing public safety.

The event showcased the incredible potential for innovation in the public sector, with speakers and sessions inspiring the audience to think creatively about using technology to address pressing challenges and deliver high-quality services to their communities.

Day 2 of the State of GovTech 2025 continued to drive forward the conversation on tech innovation in the public sector. The Leadership Exchange Breakfast, hosted by the National League of Cities, set the tone for a day focused on collaboration and future strategy. In the keynote session, Tom Spengler, Executive in Residence at Great Hill Partners, provided an in-depth look at the state of the GovTech market, followed by "AI That Serves Everyone", a vital discussion on how AI tools can bridge the gap for smaller and underrepresented local governments. The "Hot Topic Live" session, focused on upgrading resident experiences with AI, with several GovTech startup leaders, showcasing cutting-edge solutions for local governments in the digital age, and a lunchtime keynote featured Amanda Renteria.

The day’s sessions tackled critical issues, including AI policy and implementation, with experts like Asaf Fadida and Susan Farber discussing frameworks and real-world applications of AI. The "From Strategy to Scale" panel explored how GovTech startups are partnering with public-sector leaders to operationalize technology, while the "Fueling Founders" session spotlighted how key players in the innovation ecosystem are building startup environments designed to support mission-driven GovTech companies. The event concluded with "The Metaverse: From a Smart City to a Smart Continent", where Jason Shuster presented groundbreaking applications of AI-powered metaverse technologies in transforming urban environments. Throughout the day, networking sessions and startup pitches helped connect key stakeholders across the public sector and GovTech communities.
